RIMS Path to the Boardroom

The COVID-19 crisis has shown that risk resilient organizations endure uncertainty instead of being overwhelmed by it. The current global pandemic and myriad risks in today’s global business and economic climate, including opportunity risks, underscores the need for risk professionals on boards of directors. For-profit or not-for-profit companies, regardless of size, must recognize the benefits of having a risk practitioner seated.

The RIMS Board of Directors unanimously approved the formation of the RIMS Path to the Boardroom to develop resources that will prepare risk professionals for board interaction and potential seats. The track will present ways that prospective board members can emphasize to stakeholders the importance of input from risk professionals, and why having a risk professional in the C-suite and on the board is critical to building organizational risk management capabilities.
